Rasca monastery was constructed in two stages. In 1512, Bogdan III constructed the

the church with the veneration day
\"St. Nicholas\". Strong, high walls incorporating slats and towers were constructed
around the church in 1542 on the
orders of Petru Rares.
The interior and exterior paintings were executed in 1551-1554, and the votive
portrait depicts King Petru Rares with
his family.
Only a very few monasteries have been so highly treasured by the Moldavian royal
families with both interior and
exterior painting Today, Rasca is binnding together the spiritual purpose of a
